I have been pondering this question for years, and it finally came down to one important factor: 'wetness'. The most uncomfortable thing about being in airport terminals is how cold they can be. And when shoes get wet from ice or snow, that's just an added layer of discomfort we don't want! That was my primary concern with these cowgirl boots as well - but after putting them through their paces at Christmas markets in Germany (walking up hills) during rain storms without any major issues keeping warm feet dry then passing by dozens of people taking photos while wearing GoreTex lined ankle booties come out
